The Pulp-to-fibre Process

TENCEL™ Modal fibres are produced by Eco Soft technology, an environmentally responsible choice offering exquisite softness to textiles.

The technology uses an integrated process, from pulp to fibre, which has high recovery rates of process ingredients and generates very low emissions to air.

Our Micro Modal Fibres

All of our products are made with a minimum of 95% TENCEL™ Modal x Micro fibres. Micro technology offers an even finer quality of lightness and exquisite softness to cellulosic fibres, producing lightweight fabrics.

Biodegradability

All TENCEL™ Modal fibres are biodegradable and compostable under industrial, home, soil and marine conditions, thus they can fully revert back to nature.

Breathability

TENCEL™ Modal fibres naturally manage the transportation of moisture, enhancing fabrics by keeping your skin feeling pleasantly comfortable. Derived from natural material, the sub-structure of modal fibres is structured to regulate the absorption and release of moisture. This contributes to fabrics breathability that support the body’s natural temperature regulating.

Long-Lasting Softness

Exhibiting high flexibility, TENCEL™ Modal wood-based fibres offer a long-lasting quality of exquisite softness. Owing to the fibre’s sleek cross-section, TENCEL™ Modal fibres enhance the soft touch of fabrics even after repeated washing. Measurements and hand evaluations of softness show that TENCEL™ Modal fibres feel twice as soft as cotton. The softness lasts longer and is able to withstand repeated wash and dry cycles compared to cotton.

Sustainable Production

Numerous Lenzing innovations have been integrated in the production of TENCEL™ Modal fibres, to make the process environmentally sound. Lenzing strives to safeguard resources for future generations by the use of renewable energy and by the recovery of process chemicals.

The Perfect Knicker Fabric

The fabrics with TENCEL™ Modal x Micro fibres were perceived as more pleasant in frictional strain tests on human skin than cotton and polyester fabrics. They also displayed a far lower frictional coefficient under humid conditions, making TENCEL™ Modal most recommendable for textiles worn next to the skin.

Using the absolute latest in sustainable fibre technology, we've combined 71% TENCEL™ fibres (wood), 19% Seacell (seaweed) and 10% Roica elastane to create a world-first, fully compostable collection, B-Edit.

Our mainline is made from 95% TENCEL™ Modal x Micro. We currently use standard elastane to give our products stretch, however we are working as quickly as we can to bring the B-Edit technology to our entire range.
